Wire knit necklace with aventurine and pearls by CatsWire Wire knit necklace with aventurine and pearls by CatsWire
This piece was inspired by vintage jewelry. All parts are knitted with a crochet hook, from the rope to the pendant featuring an aventurine cabochon, surrounded by pearls.

Lovely colour combination, it gives off an old world feel even without knowing it was based off a piece of vintage jewelry, must be the combination of a perfect circle, the crocheting and the use of pearls:)

Thank you, also for the fave! It's not based on a particular piece of jewelry, it's more a mix of inspiration from what I have seen. I'm glad that feeling comes across when looking at it!

(Grr, hit backspace, browser took me back a page)

I'm curious, since I can't quite tell for sure from the photograph, but how is the aventurine cabochon secured?
It looks like it could be secured by the knitted wire being on both sides of the cabochon, if so, that is very neat idea.
Lovely knitted wire by the way, quite painstaking I bet to make.

No, you are right, you can't see that in the pictures. I took a quick picture for you [link]
To keep it really safe and not allow it to move, I knit a bezel onto which I then add the "web".

And thank you!

Neat idea, keeps it flatter than what I was thinking.
Out of curiosity have you drilled any of your stones to thread wire through? I was wondering, if so, as to what type of bits/drill bits are used,as I would imagine that the bits are more like grinding bits than auger style (your "standard" drill bit).

No, sorry. I use the stones as they come to me. It's part of the challenge what to do with them.

Ah, fair enough, lends more to creativity that way, thanks anyways.
